"You have the right to free legal advice if you are questioned by the police"

At TAHMINA & Co we understand that being arrested and held at the police station can be a daunting and frightening experience for anyone, however everyone is entitled to free and independent professional advice. You may be vulnerable, nervous, apprehensive, resentful, angry or all of theses things.

You must be told about your right to free legal advice after you are arrested and before you are questioned at a police station. You can:

  • Ask for TAHMINA & Co - we are available 24 hours a day and independent of the police

  • Tell the police you wish to receive professional legal advice

Any interview under caution with a party other than the Police, for example with Trading Standards or the DWP is also free of charge, subject to financial eligibility. We can act as your representative in interview and advise you as to the best possible way to proceed when being questioned. After your interview, we will liaise with officers to ascertain the outcome of your matter and advise you accordingly. We will also speak with you in regards to what happens next and whether we can assist you any further.
